This week, I’m going to be breaking down how you can drive more revenue from your podcast.
Recently, I was chilling in the sauna with another agency bro.
He said one of his clients has 250K followers and is making $600/month.
That’s $0.0024 per follower.
Shocking, but not surprising.
How could that be?
Well, as your followers grow, unfortunately, your bank account doesn’t follow the same trajectory.
Or does it?
With all our clients, I view them as businesses instead of podcasts.
Why?
It’s 10X easier to integrate products and services.
Here’s how we do it:
The podcast is tailored to its audience.
Every word resonates with the listener.
Every episode solves their problems.
You don’t need 250K followers to be ‘successful’.
You need to solve MASSIVE pain for a specific audience.
So let’s dig right into the method:
If you position your podcast as an authority figure, you have the experience to back up what you’re discussing.
For instance, if you’ve built a startup to $10M in annual recurring revenue, you may offer consulting to early stage founders to help them scale. By discussing your experiences, transformation, and problems, you become an authority figure.
By sharing your journey, you’re reinforcing your belief systems with others who are looking for the same desired results.
From there, you can add a simple call-to-action in your descriptions to allow people to book a call or check out your info products.
Your ideal listener profile is your ideal customer profile.
Your podcast doesn’t serve everyone, it serves one archetype. In fact, you want some people to be completely turned off by your podcast.
Why?
It’s not for them - it’s for your ideal listener profile.
So instead of saying “I help busy professionals who want to make more money online.”
Say “I help men from 25 to 30 years old who are single and make between $50K-$75K salary with $2500 of disposable income a month.”
This cuts all the BS and guess work out.
Now, every piece of content hits ONE profile.
Remember, the goal is to help.
When you provide so much free information, they will be more than happy to pay for community pages, courses, coaching, consulting.
As your audience grows, it grows with the EXACT listener profile you want to isolate and sell into.
Brilliant.
No one cares about how much you work.
People only care about the outcome.
Potential customers hang out at the finish line.
Seeing who’s the winner. Sometimes they don’t even care how they won, they just want to win.
Quite symbolic of life really.
Anyway, it’s important to convey these transformations of clients, customers, and users.
How they felt in the beginning.
The pain they experienced.
How YOU solved the pain and the results YOU generated.
This doesn’t have to be ego driven. You can casually share some wins and the significance throughout the podcast.
When they’re ready, they know where to find your products and services.
And that, my friends, is how to drive more revenue from your podcast.
